“A one-stop concept with one party, just as we wanted.”
A durable and sturdy bicycle shelter for 800 pupils, matching the new school building. And one party for the complete realisation.
8 solar bicycle shelters with 316 glass-glass panels on a sturdy steel structure.
The panels are inclined at 10 degrees, forming a roof over the bicycles and allowing students to store them in a dry place.
At Coenensparkstraat in Zutphen there is the superb new school building of Kompaan College. 800 pupils attend classes here and many of them travel to school by bicycle. Kompaan College wanted sustainable and sturdy bicycle shelters on the school grounds. It was important that one party could do everything for them: the construction, the installation of the solar panels and everything around it. Jansman Bouw realised the new Kompaan building and awarded us the contract for the construction and installation of the solar bicycle shelter.
316 integrated glass-glass panels were installed on a sturdy steel structure that will last a long time. Good for 100,000 kWh. All steel parts are hot-dip galvanised and the bicycle shelters are equipped with rainwater drains and nicely concealed cable ducts. The roof is waterproof and the panels have a gradient of 10 degrees, allowing students to store their bikes dry or take shelter from the rain. The panels are also very safe: in case of a breakage, the glass is held together. And they are classified in the highest fire safety class.
Kompaan College is very happy with the new bicycle shelters. Pupils, parents and staff react enthusiastically and the energy yield is good. ‘A total concept with one party, just as we wanted,’ says Joost Versluis.
